M. Kuz is my handle. I grew up outside Detroit, Michigan in a large immigrant community. Exposure to music beyond western-centric traditions was just a normal part of life. I listen to everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, and my songs reflect that expansive attitude. Music is personal. I imbue it with as much heart and imagination as I can, mixing organic, homemade, and “ancient” elements with more modern sounds, which give the music a timeless quality. I love having my hand in every part of the process, from conception to composition to production. Suriname, Guatemala, South Africa, Zambia, and Liberia have all been called home. Each country has left an indelible impression on my music and my heart. I am currently based in Los Angeles, California. I like it here. To date, my music has been featured in one film soundtrack – “The Armenian Spread”, which will stream sometime in 2026 (inshallah).
